Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha

Since 1965, Boys & Girls Clubs have been unwavering in our commitment to the well-being of children and their preparation for future success; providing girls and boys with diverse after-school and summer activities that meet their interests and developmental needs. Clubs are guidance-oriented in order to help young people develop a system of values related to family, community and country and to make appropriate and satisfying choices in all aspects of their lives.  This commitment has guided us in equipping our youth for success through three strategic programming areas: academic success, good character & citizenship and healthy lifestyles.

A Boys & Girls Club provides:

  • A safe place to learn and grow
  • Ongoing relationships with caring, adult professionals
  • Life-enhancing programs and character development experiences
  • Hope and opportunity

Our Mission

To enable all youth, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.

Our Vision

To provide a world-class Club experience that assures that success is within reach of every young person who walks through our doors, with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character & citizenship and living a healthy lifestyle.

Kenosha Community Sailing Center (KCSC)

The Kenosha Community Sailing Center (KCSC) is organized exclusively for charitable, scientific and educational purposes. More specifically it is a collaborative effort between local organizations and schools. Its goal is to educate Kenosha youth in the sport of sailing while integrating academic, leadership and life skills.

The KCSC also promotes awareness of and access to the Kenosha Harbor and Lake Michigan’s resources and environment for people of all ages through the sport of sailing.
The KCSC is a nonprofit group of sailors who want to share our love of Lake Michigan with all of Kenosha.

RexPlex – Pleasant Prairie

WisPark donated nearly $1.6 million to construct the initial phase of the then 425-acre park. On August 5, 1995, the park was officially dedicated to the people of the Village of Pleasant Prairie. On the same date, Lake Andrea was dedicated to Senator Joseph Andrea in recognition of his “significant impact” on the community, and Terwall Terrace was dedicated to Thomas Terwall in appreciation for the strong role he played in the growth of the community.

Planning for RecPlex began in 1998. WisPark donated another $4 million for its construction. A ground breaking was held for LakeView RecPlex on October 12, 1999, and construction immediately followed. RecPlex officially opened its doors to the public on October 1, 2000.

At the time, RecPlex offered visitors: a 17,000sq ft leisure pool, 60,000sq ft field house, 8,000sq ft fitness center, 1/6-mile suspended track, changing rooms, a child-care area and snack bar.

Just over three years later, on January 12, 2004, the Village broke ground on the first addition at RecPlex. Through the first expansion, 42,000sq ft were added in the form of a new, larger fitness center, additional changing rooms, an expanded child-care area, racquetball courts, a multi-purpose studio and party rooms. A 79,000sq ft ice arena, with two NHL-sized ice rinks and many amenities, was also constructed as part of the expansion. The facility now stood at an amazing 260,000sq ft.

In late 2008, a second major expansion was announced, a 50-meter Olympic-sized competition pool. Made possible through a community-focused partnership with ULINE, Inc, the Village broke ground for the pool on June 22, 2009. The 42,000sq ft expansion included a competition pool and related amenities along with seating for approximately 600 spectators. Water and air in the new pool is heated and cooled with a geothermal technology placed in the adjacent Lake Andrea. An ultraviolet technology, similar to that installed in the original aquatic center, is used to treat the water. With the latest expansion, the total size of the facility is now just over 302,000sq ft. The RecPlex Aqua Arena was dedicated to the citizens of the Village of Pleasant Prairie on June 10, 2010.
